PSG Very Worried for Lucas Chevalier

Lucas Chevalier is still not getting better. As reported by Fabrice Hawkins of RMC, the PSG goalkeeper was unable to take part in training this Wednesday: his ankle, violently struck in Monaco, is still very swollen.

His withdrawal this weekend is becoming very likely. The staff is monitoring his condition hour by hour, and his presence against Rennes on Saturday seems compromised. Safonov could therefore make his first start of the season.

This injury brings back into focus the tackle by Lamine Camara during AS Monaco – PSG. Clément Turpin only showed a yellow card, even though the action was very dangerous: raised foot, bent ankle, no control. And the referee never went to review the footage.

Turpin overruled

According to L’Équipe, the refereeing body corrected course on Monday. Antony Gautier admitted to the clubs that Camara should have been sent off. The VAR wasn’t any more inspired: at no point did it consider a red card.

According to RMC, Jérémie Pignard and Gaël Angoula felt that the criteria for a sendingoff were not met, thereby validating the yellow card. A collective decision that has raised eyebrows, especially after PSG published a photo showing Chevalier’s ankle completely twisted.

Less than a year after the Singo–Donnarumma incident, French refereeing once again finds itself in the storm.
