The most expensive signing in Paris FC history (€17m), Otavio has so far embodied a major disappointment. And a January sale is far from being a taboo subject.
Signed last summer from FC Porto to become the leader of the defense, the 23-year-old Brazilian has delivered performances well below expectations, highlighted by his failed outing against Toulouse (0–3).
A Rapidly Uncertain Future
According to L’Équipe, the club is unhappy with his output and now believes that Otavio does not have the defensive leadership profile they had hoped for. Paris FC is therefore considering signing an experienced defender this winter to support him, while still holding out hope for improvement.
But a departure is not ruled out. As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Bologna are interested in the player and could propose a loan with an option to buy as early as January. After just 13 Ligue 1 matches, Otavio’s future at Paris FC is already uncertain.
