John Textor attempted a power grab to retake control of OL during the general meeting of Eagle Football Group, according to RMC Sport.
Textor’s return to Lyon came close. The former boss of Lyon tried to invalidate the vote of two key board members of the structure holding power. He even announced their removal to reopen the path to the presidency, a move that would have allowed him to oust the current president, Michèle Kang, and take back control.
A failed power grab at Lyon
But Michèle Kang, backed by the fund Ares (Textor’s creditor), fought back legally and proved that the administrators had voted before their alleged removal, making Textor’s maneuver illegal. Ares then officially stepped in, voiding the attempted coup and confirming the immediate removal of John Textor from his duties.
Result: the power grab fails, Textor is definitively sidelined from power in Lyon, the general meeting can be held without chaos, and OL avoids another major crisis. The “Textor chapter” in Lyon is almost closed, under the firm control of Ares and Michèle Kang.
