The “new” FC Barcelona Camp Nou is making headlines… and not for good reasons. After heavy rain, the stadium was invaded not only by water, but also by unwelcome visitors.
The images went around the world. The brand-new Camp Nou, under a spectacular downpour, was literally flooded. The stadium, still under construction, suffered leaks in the stands, a soaked pitch, and corridors turned into paddling pools, leaving journalists and fans drenched to the bone. The problem is well known: the roof has not yet been installed, turning parts of the gleaming venue into a kind of Olympic swimming pool, with spectacular waterfall videos already going viral on social media.
A Modern Stadium Tested by Chaos
The scene is a cruel blow for a project meant to symbolize the modernity and power of Barça. Even Joan Laporta, usually accustomed to media storms, could not escape the weather: spotted without an umbrella in the stands, the president himself ended up completely soaked. Trying to calm the controversy, he reassured everyone by saying, “We will fix everything step by step.” In short, Barça won on the pitch, but its stadium has already taken on water.
And that was not all. As if the embarrassment were not enough, several witnesses claim they saw rats inside the stadium, clearly taking advantage of the construction work and the still-open areas. Images are already circulating online, adding another layer of discomfort around a Camp Nou that is supposed to embody the club’s renewal.
With a Champions League match approaching, concerns are growing about whether the 2026 version of Camp Nou might still have a few nasty surprises in store.
