The Minas Gerais championship final between Cruzeiro and Atlético Mineiro descended into complete chaos. While Cruzeiro secured a 1–0 victory at the Mineirão, the match ended with a spectacular mass brawl in the final seconds.

It all started after a rough collision inside Atlético’s penalty area between Christian and goalkeeper Everson. Furious, the keeper immediately reacted, triggering an altercation that quickly escalated into a full-scale confrontation between both teams. Punches, violent tackles, and extremely tense scenes erupted on the pitch, involving nearly every player.

The final decision came later in the official match report: 23 red cards were handed out — 12 for Cruzeiro and 11 for Atlético Mineiro — including players such as Hulk, Renan Lodi, Gerson, and Christian. It is a historic record in Brazil, surpassing the 22 expulsions from the famous Rio–São Paulo match of 1954.
