Nothing is going right anymore at Olympique de Marseille. The 2025–2026 season has turned into a nightmare for the southern French club, with disastrous results, internal crises, and an uncertain future for several key players.

An apocalyptic campaign for OM. It all began with tensions in the locker room, including a physical altercation between Adrien Rabiot and Jonathan Rowe. On the pitch, setbacks quickly piled up: defeat in the Trophée des Champions, an early elimination from the UEFA Champions League, and a humiliating 5–0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes.

Internal turmoil and possible player exodus

The crisis has also hit the club’s leadership. Head coach Roberto De Zerbi left the club, while sporting director Mehdi Benatia first resigned before eventually returning. Soon after, president Pablo Longoria also stepped down from his role. On the sporting side, the downfall continued with a Coupe de France elimination against Toulouse FC.

And inevitably, the consequence of this season from hell could be a major overhaul of the squad. Young midfielder Bilal Nadir, whose contract expires in June, is expected to leave on a free transfer according to L’Équipe. Other departures are also likely: loaned players such as Benjamin Pavard, Arthur Vermeeren and Ethan Nwaneri should return to their parent clubs, while Gerónimo Rulli and Geoffrey Kondogbia could be sold with only one year left on their contracts.

Even the team’s leaders are surrounded by uncertainty. According to L’Équipe, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, Mason Greenwood and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are also considering leaving at the end of the season. Between sporting struggles, internal instability and the potential exodus of several players, OM is sinking into one of the most chaotic seasons in its recent history.
