Pablo Longoria is turning the page in Marseille. The former president of Olympique de Marseille officially announced his departure with a message filled with emotion, reflecting on a demanding and defining experience.
Pablo Longoria is leaving. The OM president broke his silence in a lengthy message published on LinkedIn. “I have just closed an important and very meaningful chapter of my career,” he wrote, expressing a mix of emotions while recalling his arrival at the club with “energy, ideas, and the ambition to build something meaningful.”
A Departure Marked by Reflection and Gratitude
The Spaniard emphasized what the experience taught him beyond sporting results. “Football goes far beyond results, transfers, or short-term decisions,” he explained, highlighting the importance of building a sustainable and competitive model. He described OM as a demanding club, requiring “commitment, passion, resilience,” and the ability to make decisions under constant pressure.
Despite a context marked by his replacement in favor of Medhi Benatia, Longoria leaves Marseille with dignity. “I close this chapter with respect, perspective, and gratitude,” he concluded, bringing an important part of his career to an end. Longoria had refused to remain at OM after Franck McCourt decided to remove him from the presidency and offer him a more withdrawn role, while sporting director Medhi Benatia will stay at least until the end of the season and becomes the club’s new leading figure.
