Between intriguing statements and a cold denial, the Rodri case is stirring up the transfer market. The Manchester City midfielder is not ruling out a future at Real Madrid… but the Spanish giants do not seem interested.
Rodri is extending a hand to Real… but it may not be enough. With one year left on his contract at Manchester City, the Spanish international finds himself at a crossroads. A key figure in the Citizens’ midfield, he has started to reflect on the next step in his career. When asked about his future, the former Atletico Madrid player surprised many by not dismissing the possibility of joining Real Madrid. Despite his past with the Colchoneros, he adopts a pragmatic stance.
Real Madrid Shows Little Interest Despite Speculation
“You can’t turn your back on the best clubs,” he said, clearly suggesting that a move to Madrid could be considered. His comments quickly reignited speculation about a potential transfer to the Spanish capital.
However, the excitement may be short-lived. According to AS, Real Madrid has no plans to make a move for Rodri. While there is genuine respect for the player within the club, both among executives and in the dressing room, it does not translate into concrete interest in the market. The club’s sporting management is reportedly targeting a different profile to strengthen their midfield, one that better aligns with their current strategy.
The situation has indeed changed compared to a few months ago. Xabi Alonso was previously the driving force behind a possible move for Rodri, but the club is now shifting its focus toward younger profiles. As a result, despite the player’s openness, Rodri and Real Madrid are expected to go their separate ways… at least for this summer.
