Leonardo Balerdi is far from done making headlines at Olympique de Marseille. Despite an inconsistent 2025-2026 season in southern France, the Argentine defender still enjoys a strong reputation across Europe ahead of the summer transfer window.
It has been a difficult campaign for the OM captain. Leonardo Balerdi faced heavy criticism throughout the season, with some questioning whether he truly has the personality to lead the dressing room. But while doubts have grown in Marseille, the 27-year-old continues to attract major interest abroad.
European Giants Monitoring Balerdi
According to Tuttosport, several top European clubs are closely monitoring the situation of the Marseille defender. Atlético Madrid remain interested, while Juventus and AS Roma are also still keeping tabs on the Argentine international after already showing interest in recent months.
And the list keeps growing. In England, Nottingham Forest have reportedly added Balerdi to their shortlist as they look to strengthen their defense this summer.
Under contract with OM until 2028, Balerdi could quickly become one of Marseille’s biggest transfer sagas of the summer. The big question now is whether Pablo Longoria will agree to sell one of his key defenders or fight to keep him despite the growing interest from clubs across Europe.
