Mason Greenwood, who scored 21 goals last season with Olympique de Marseille, is on the verge of returning to international football—but not with England. The 23-year-old striker has officially obtained Jamaican nationality and could soon join the Reggae Boyz.
Only approval from the English and Jamaican football associations is needed for Greenwood to be eligible for Jamaica’s upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Bermuda and Trinidad & Tobago.
Greenwood hasn’t played internationally since earning his lone England cap in 2020, after which he was sent home for breaching Covid protocols. Since then, he has revived his career at Getafe and Marseille and is now attracting interest from Inter Milan and Al-Nassr.
With former England boss Steve McClaren now managing Jamaica, the team is targeting dual-national players raised in the UK to boost its chances of reaching the World Cup.
