Stung by the departure of Dro Fernández to Paris Saint-Germain, FC Barcelona reacted quickly. The Catalan club is very close to finalizing a contract extension for Fermín López (22), who has enjoyed a strong Liga season with four goals in 15 matches.
PSG made a big move by signing one of La Masia’s top prospects, Dro Fernández. Barcelona are furious, but they are moving fast to respond.
A swift response to PSG’s move
According to Cadena COPE, a report confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, a verbal agreement has already been reached between Fermín López and the club to extend his contract by two more seasons, taking him through 2031. The official announcement could even come this week.
Already under contract until 2029, Fermín had nevertheless turned down an offer from Chelsea last summer. A sign of his loyalty—and a logical reward for a player who has become a regular starter, despite competition from Dani Olmo in his position.
