The Julián Alvarez saga continues to heat up the Paris transfer market. While several media outlets claim PSG still hold a very strong interest in the Atlético Madrid striker, completely opposite reports are now emerging from Spain.
According to PSGInside-Actus, Paris Saint-Germain have never abandoned this target since the summer of 2025. The outlet even claims that Luis Enrique “strongly approves” of the Argentine World Cup winner’s profile and that the player still has genuine interest in joining Paris.
Conflicting Reports Around Alvarez
Still according to the same source, the main obstacle remains Atlético Madrid. The Spanish club reportedly has no intention of selling its striker and would demand a massive fee to even consider a transfer. PSG would nevertheless be ready to test the waters if an opportunity appears this summer.
But in Spain, Sport provides a radically different version of events. After speaking with sources close to PSG, the Catalan newspaper claims that Julián Alvarez is currently not among Luis Enrique’s attacking priorities for the next transfer window. The outlet explains that PSG had indeed tried to sign the player in 2023 when he left Manchester City, before he eventually chose Atlético Madrid. Two years later, however, Paris are said to be exploring other attacking options to strengthen their squad.
The Spanish media outlet adds that the situation could still change depending on departures within PSG’s attacking department this summer. Between the conflicting reports coming from France and Spain, the Alvarez saga already promises to be one of the major stories of the 2026 summer transfer window. One thing seems certain: the Argentine striker will be one of the biggest names of the summer.
