Where was Mbappé? The Real Madrid forward, who had long expressed his desire to play in the Olympic tournament, also declined to carry the flame on July 26. According to Le Canard Enchaîné, the reason was simple: he was invited to participate, but not as the final torchbearer — a role he believed he deserved.
Faced with legends like Teddy Riner and Marie-José Pérec, Mbappé lost out.
No flame, no pitch, no comment
And so, no game, no torch, not even a word. The former PSG star stayed completely silent during the Games. Meanwhile, Antoine Griezmann was hyped for every French medal — famously posting his now iconic “MEDAL ALERT” after each one.
