Paris Saint-Germain’s dominant 5–0 victory over Olympique de Marseille in the Classique may not lead only to sporting consequences. Despite the strong performance on the pitch, several incidents in the stands at the Parc des Princes could result in disciplinary action.
During the match, provocative banners were displayed, chants with homophobic or racist content were reported, and many flares were set off. According to the League, this behavior goes beyond what is permitted.
Disciplinary Procedure Triggered After Crowd Incidents
The referee even stopped the game by applying the anti-discrimination protocol, an official procedure used when serious misconduct occurs.
The Paris club is therefore exposed to sanctions. The Professional Football League is expected to open a case and summon PSG. Possible measures include a heavy financial fine, partial stand closures, a match behind closed doors, or even a points deduction in the event of repeat offenses. The sporting win stands, but the disciplinary consequences could be severe.
