Paris Saint-Germain have still not given up on Julian Alvarez. Despite the growing number of obstacles, the Argentine striker’s name continues to be strongly linked with the French champions. In Spain, the transfer saga remains a hot topic as Atlético Madrid publicly maintains a very firm stance.
The message from the Spanish club is crystal clear. Atlético president Enrique Cerezo recently reminded everyone that Alvarez has a €500 million release clause in his contract. The astronomical figure perfectly reflects the club’s determination to keep its star forward and discourage even the most ambitious suitors.
Atlético Madrid Refuses to Negotiate
Even so, PSG are reportedly keeping a close eye on the situation. Luis Enrique is said to be a huge admirer of the former Manchester City striker and views him as one of the ideal additions to strengthen Paris’ attack. According to several Spanish outlets, the PSG manager continues to push internally for a potential blockbuster move.
Last week, Spanish newspaper AS reported that Julian Alvarez’s representatives had held discussions with PSG regarding a possible transfer. The report also suggested that the player could be valued between €140 million and €150 million, a figure that remains far below the €500 million release clause included in his contract.
Despite the speculation, Atlético Madrid remain unmoved. Club officials insist that no negotiations are taking place, that Alvarez is not for sale, and that the player has never expressed any desire to leave the Spanish capital. Enrique Cerezo has been categorical: barring a dramatic and unexpected twist, Julian Alvarez will still be wearing the red-and-white shirt next season.
