A surprising and emotional twist in the life of Daniel Kenedy, a former PSG and Benfica player from the 1990s, who has just started a new chapter—as an Uber driver.
The former Portuguese U21 international, originally from Guinea-Bissau, opened up to Correio da Manhã:
“Today is my first day with Uber. I hope it will be a happy one,” he said with emotion.
From football fortune to gambling debts
Kenedy, like many retired footballers, saw his post-career life spiral after falling victim to gambling addiction. His debts reportedly total nearly €200,000, including €40,000 owed to the tax authorities.
After a short stint as a coach (2015–2017) and an appearance on Big Brother Famosos in 2022, Kenedy is now trying to rebuild “with honor and dignity.”
“Football is still my dream—I love it—but now I must move forward differently,” he admitted.
