FC Barcelona have completed their second major signing of the summer transfer window. In a video published on social media, the Catalan club officially announced the arrival of Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund.
The German international has signed a contract with the Blaugrana until June 2031. The transfer fee is estimated at €22 million, a relatively affordable amount for a 24-year-old player who already has considerable experience at the highest level of European football. Adeyemi becomes Barcelona’s second summer signing after Anthony Gordon, who joined for around €80 million.
A Versatile New Attacking Option for Barcelona
At Barcelona, Adeyemi will reunite with Hansi Flick, who previously worked with him in the German national team. The coach is therefore familiar with his pace, runs in behind the defence and ability to operate on either wing. Primarily used on the left, the left-footed forward can also play on the right or in a more central role, giving Barça another explosive option in matches where they need to attack open spaces.

Born in Munich on January 18, 2002, Adeyemi spent part of his youth career at Bayern Munich before continuing his development with TSV Forstenried and Unterhaching. RB Salzburg signed him at the age of 16 in 2018 and initially sent him to partner club FC Liefering. He later established himself in Austria, winning domestic trophies, playing in the Champions League and emerging as one of the country’s most exciting young forwards.
Borussia Dortmund recruited Adeyemi in the summer of 2022. Despite injuries and periods of inconsistency, he regularly demonstrated his ability to change matches with his acceleration.
He scored a Champions League hat-trick in October 2024 and became the first German player to reach at least ten goals in the competition before turning 23. After also featuring in Dortmund’s 2024 Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid, he now moves to La Liga, where Barcelona hope his speed, directness and potential will make him a major attacking weapon.
