Bad news for Barcelona fans but a boost for PSG: despite their attempts to convince UEFA, FC Barcelona likely won’t host PSG at their revamped Camp Nou during the Champions League.
The iconic stadium’s renovation has hit delays, complicating the Blaugrana’s schedule. For their first home Liga match against Valencia on September 14, they’ll need to play at the Johan Cruyff Stadium. The return to Camp Nou is anticipated for the match against Getafe on September 21, but it won’t be ready for European competition just yet.
Barça/PSG at Montjuic
According to Sport, UEFA will not allow Barcelona to use the Camp Nou for the Champions League until the side stands are fully operational. Unfortunately, the renovations aren’t expected to be completed by October 1, the date of their clash with PSG.
As a result, Barcelona will take on the current European champions at the Olympic Stadium in Montjuic. This will surely be a special outing for the Parisians, with an electrifying atmosphere expected even away from the iconic Camp Nou.
