Paris Saint-Germain is reeling from a double blow as both Ousmane Dembélé and Désiré Doué are set to spend significant time off the pitch.
The absence of Dembélé, in particular, is a crushing blow for the team, as reports indicate he will be sidelined for a staggering six weeks. The winger, known affectionately as ‘Dembouz,’ sustained a right thigh injury just moments after being substituted into the match against Ukraine, despite warnings from PSG regarding the potential risks of playing.
The timing couldn’t be worse for PSG, with critical fixtures looming on the horizon. Dembélé’s injury means he will miss the highly anticipated Champions League clash against Atalanta, along with the fierce rivalry match against Marseille, known as the ‘Classique.’
The loss of their star player leaves a gaping hole in the team’s attacking strategy, raising concerns about how they will cope without his creativity and speed on the flanks.
Injury Concerns for PSG Ahead of Key Matches
Adding to the woes, Désiré Doué also suffered an injury, this time a calf problem, which forced him off the pitch at halftime during the same match. His recovery is estimated to take three to four weeks, meaning he too will miss key matches against Atalanta and Marseille.
Speculation is rife that he may also be sidelined for the showdown against Barcelona, putting further pressure on PSG’s squad depth.
These injuries, occurring during international duty, have left PSG fuming at France’s head coach Didier Deschamps.
With a crucial September on the horizon, the Parisian club is now faced with the daunting task of regrouping and reinforcing their squad to withstand the loss of two vital players as they aim to maintain their competitive edge in both domestic and European competitions.
