Once a regular under Didier Deschamps, Benjamin Pavard is now going through a far more complicated period with the France national team. Even so, he still believes he can earn a call-up for the next World Cup.
Pavard with Les Bleus in the United States? The dream is still distant. The versatile Olympique de Marseille defender has not played a single minute for France in 2025, and his last start dates back to the 0–2 defeat against Germany in March 2024, despite being called up regularly.
Pavard still targets the 2026 World Cup
However, the 2018 world champion has not given up on his objective of taking part in the 2026 World Cup. After Marseille’s emphatic 9–0 win over Bayeux in the Coupe de France, he reiterated his determination to beIN Sports.
“I play football to be in the France team. It will always be the coach’s decision, but I’m ready and I give 100% so I won’t have any regrets,” Pavard said.
Despite a less favorable situation with the national team, the former Bayern Munich player remains fully motivated and continues to work in the hope of winning back the coach’s trust.
