Xabi Alonso remains optimistic: the French star could return for the decisive match against Salzburg.
After missing Real Madrid’s Club World Cup opener due to a severe bout of gastroenteritis, Kylian Mbappé is finally on the mend. Hospitalized upon his arrival in the United States, the forward was absent during the 1–1 draw against Al-Hilal.
Ahead of Sunday’s clash with Pachuca, Xabi Alonso provided a positive update during a press conference: “He’s doing better. He left the hospital two days ago and completed all necessary tests. His recovery is going well, and we’re increasingly optimistic about seeing him against Salzburg.”
Hopes on Mbappé’s return
Madrid, still chasing qualification for the Round of 16, hopes to count on Mbappé’s return for that must-win match. His presence could be decisive in helping Los Blancos turn their tournament around.
