Kompany Uninterested in Bayern Record

Despite Bayern Munich’s historic attacking season, Vincent Kompany refuses to get carried away: the Bundesliga goal record does not interest him. Bayern Munich are in unstoppable offensive form. With already 97 goals scored after 27 matchdays, the Bavarian club is rapidly closing in on the historic record of 101 goals set during the 1971–1972 season.

Following the emphatic 4-0 victory against Union Berlin, Vincent Kompany nevertheless tempered the excitement during the press conference. The Belgian coach clearly stated that records are not among his priorities.

Kompany Focused on Performance Over Records

“I think we’re going to break this record, but…” he said. “I’m not the kind of person who talks about records. It doesn’t really interest me. I think we’ll break it, but I have other priorities: never forgetting our strengths and using them on the pitch, regardless of the opponent.”
