Lionel Messi continues to make history far beyond the football fields. In India, the Argentine icon will be honored like never before.
Messi has his giant statue in India. La Pulga will inaugurate a 21-meter tall statue of himself in Kolkata this Saturday. According to local authorities, it will be the tallest statue in the world dedicated to the player.
Built in about forty days by the Sree Bhumi Sporting Club, the artwork depicts Messi holding the World Cup. This inauguration will kick off the “GOAT Tour,” a three-day tour during which the world champion will visit several major Indian cities.
Messi, a living god in India
An absolute idol in West Bengal and Bangladesh, Messi enjoys exceptional popularity in the region. Alongside this statue, a mural and several events are also planned throughout his visit.
