Ibrahima Konaté announced the death of his father in recent hours on social media.

Absent for “personal reasons” during Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Olympique de Marseille on Wednesday in the Champions League, central defender Ibrahima Konaté (26, 30 appearances and 1 goal in all competitions this season) has lost his father.

A Personal Tragedy for the Reds Defender

The French international had shared the sad news with his followers. “My father has been ill for many years,” he had said in an interview with Ouest-France last October.
