José Mourinho has not even officially returned to Real Madrid yet, but he has reportedly already identified one of his key priorities: keeping Aurélien Tchouaméni at the club.
According to several English outlets, including The Sun, Manchester United had been closely monitoring the French international as they look to rebuild their midfield. The Red Devils viewed the former Monaco star as one of the marquee targets of their summer transfer window following another disappointing season for Real Madrid.
Mourinho Makes Tchouaméni Untouchable
However, Mourinho is said to have quickly shut the door on any potential move. The future Madrid coach reportedly sees Tchouaméni as a cornerstone of his project and has no intention of allowing the 26-year-old midfielder to leave despite strong interest from the Premier League.
Under contract until 2028, the France international remains highly valued in Madrid, even after a few turbulent months. Manchester United had hoped to take advantage of uncertainty surrounding his future, but those plans now appear to be fading.
The situation seems increasingly clear. While United continue searching for midfield reinforcements, Mourinho reportedly wants to build his new Real Madrid around players such as Tchouaméni, whom he considers essential to restoring the club’s dominance in Europe. The message is simple: the Frenchman is not for sale.
