Shakira sent a very warm message to Kylian Mbappé. On her social media accounts, the Colombian singer thanked the France captain for taking part in the music video for “Dai Dai,” the official anthem of the 2026 World Cup.
Les Bleus are through to the semi-finals, and Shakira could not be happier. The singer, who is playing a major role during this World Cup, is delighted.
Shakira Publicly Thanks Kylian Mbappé
In her message, Shakira revealed that Mbappé was the first player to agree to appear in the musical project, co-written with Burna Boy. It is a gesture the singer has not forgotten. “Kylian was the very first player to agree to take part in the Dai Dai video,” Shakira explained, before adding: “Kylian, I will be eternally grateful to you. Thank you so much.”
Released on May 23, the video quickly enjoyed huge success online, surpassing two million likes. Kylian Mbappé is not the only major football name to appear in it, as Lionel Messi, Harry Kane and Vinicius Junior also feature in the video. The track “Dai Dai,” whose title means “go, go” in Italian, will also be at the heart of the show planned for half-time of the World Cup final on July 19 in New York. Shakira is expected to share the stage with Madonna and BTS, under the artistic direction of Chris Martin.

This message of gratitude comes in a particular context for Mbappé. Since the round of 16 against Paraguay, the France captain has been targeted by harsh attacks from Paraguayan senator Celeste Amarilla, with some of her comments denounced as racist and insulting. Mbappé had already responded on social media by calling the remarks “miserable,” before denouncing a “contemptible woman unworthy of her office.” On the pitch, the French forward answered in the best possible way. A scorer in the quarter-final against Morocco, Mbappé was once again decisive in Les Bleus’ 2-0 victory, alongside Ousmane Dembélé, as France continue their road to the World Cup semi-finals.
