Manchester United’s struggles have deepened following a catastrophic season, marked by a 1-0 loss to Tottenham in the Europa League final on Wednesday. Sitting 16th in the Premier League and eliminated from European competitions, the club is facing both sporting and financial crises.
According to The Athletic, the defeat against Tottenham heightened internal tensions, particularly between the club’s staff and its owners, the Glazers, as well as co-owner Jim Ratcliffe.
The growing discontent is partly due to unpopular decisions, such as budget cuts and the end of free meals at the club’s canteen, which have angered employees.
A Growing Revolt
The sight of the Glazers smiling before the final, while many employees were left to watch the match on a giant screen, was not well-received. Some even booed the owners when they appeared on screen.
Discontent is also mounting in the stands at Old Trafford, with protests around the stadium targeting the Glazers’ handling of the club. It seems that a revolt is brewing within Manchester United, which must urgently find a way to turn things around.
