Luka Modric (39), whose contract is expiring, will leave Real Madrid after the Club World Cup. On Thursday, the Croatian midfielder officially confirmed his departure via an emotional message on social media.

“Dear Madridistas: The moment has come. The moment I never wanted to see, but this is football, and in life, everything has a beginning and an end… On Saturday, I will play my last match at the Santiago Bernabéu,” Modric said.

Modric concluded by saying he would leave the club “with a heart full of pride, gratitude, and unforgettable memories.” Although he will no longer wear the Real Madrid jersey after the Club World Cup, he will always consider himself a “madridista,” ready to return to the home that saw him grow. On Saturday, May 25, he will play his final match at the Santiago Bernabéu against Real Sociedad, marking the end of an era for the Spanish club.
