Zinedine Zidane will, barring a huge surprise, become the next head coach of the French national team. However, nothing has been signed yet.
According to Fabrizio Romano, “Zizou” is on his way. There is reportedly a verbal agreement between Zinedine Zidane and the French Football Federation for him to take charge of the France national football team after the 2026 World Cup.
Verbal Agreement in Place for Post-2026 World Cup Era
The former Real Madrid manager is said to have given his approval to lead Les Bleus once the tournament concludes. It is a scenario that has been anticipated for years, as his name consistently resurfaces whenever the position is discussed.
But caution is still required: at this stage, it is only a verbal agreement. No contract has been signed and no official announcement has been made. And in football, everything can still change.
If confirmed, France would be preparing to enter a new era — the Zidane version.
