Manchester United fans, brace yourselves. Following a humiliating Europa League final loss to Tottenham (1-0) and a woeful 15th-place finish in the Premier League, manager Ruben Amorim has signaled a new era — one built on austerity and tough decisions.
“We’re not in the Champions League, so we don’t need an oversized squad,” the Portuguese coach bluntly stated at a press conference. The message is clear: big names are on the chopping block.
Star departures incoming
The club has set its price tags. Marcus Rashford, currently on loan at Aston Villa, is expected to be sold for €47 million. Antony, on loan at Betis, is valued at €38 million. Jadon Sancho’s loan to Chelsea includes a €30 million buy option — but United might cancel it, paying a €6 million penalty, as the €85 million signing still fails to convince.
And it doesn’t stop there. Rasmus Højlund, a €77 million signing, could also be sacrificed. Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes are also reportedly available for transfer.
Meanwhile, Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, and Victor Lindelöf are set to be offloaded. Veteran Jonny Evans is retiring.
Rebuilding from the ground up
United is targeting younger, hungrier profiles. Liam Delap (Ipswich) and Matheus Cunha (Wolves) are on the shortlist. Estimated summer investment: €110 million.
It’s a radical shake-up for a club in crisis. Amorim wants a tighter, more committed group. The era of galácticos at Old Trafford is over — and a gritty new identity is taking shape.
