Tensions are escalating between Memphis Depay and Corinthians, with the Dutch striker reportedly at odds with the club over €900,000 in unpaid bonuses, according to Lance!.

Depay, who signed with Corinthians in 2024, is under contract until December 2026, earning up to €19 million per year. The club wants to renegotiate what it now considers an excessive deal, but the former Atlético Madrid forward is refusing to take a pay cut.

With the 2026 World Cup on the horizon, Depay remains determined to stay in Brazil and maintain visibility. A contract termination would cost the club around €10 million — a scenario currently off the table.

Growing Frustration On and Off the Pitch

On the field, things aren’t any better. With just 6 goals in 31 appearances, Depay has come under fire from fans for his lack of impact and perceived disengagement. Some supporters have even gone as far as painting graffiti criticizing him for focusing more on music and poker than football.

Depay’s deal reportedly includes exceptional privileges, a star treatment that is starting to create tension inside the São Paulo-based club.

The situation remains delicate — and could turn explosive if results don’t improve or negotiations break down.
