Mason Greenwood is getting very close to joining Fenerbahçe. After an impressive season with Olympique de Marseille, the 24-year-old English striker is now on the verge of signing for the Turkish club, which has been pushing for several days to finalize the deal.
Mason Greenwood is set to leave OM, that is now certain. According to multiple sources, an agreement is close to being reached between Fenerbahçe and Marseille. The final details of the transfer are currently being sorted out, with a positive outcome expected very soon. For Marseille, this departure would mark the sale of their top scorer from the 2025-2026 season, who netted 26 goals in all competitions.
Transfer fee lower than expected for Marseille
However, the amount of the deal is expected to fall short of the club’s initial expectations. OM had hoped to receive at least €50 million for Mason Greenwood, but according to RMC Sport, the transfer should ultimately reach €42 million, including bonuses.
This fee will not go entirely to Marseille. When Greenwood arrived from Manchester United, the English club negotiated a significant sell-on clause, estimated at 40%. This clause has reportedly been renegotiated as part of the discussions surrounding his move to Fenerbahçe.
In the end, OM is expected to receive around €30 million from the transfer. While lower than anticipated, it would still represent a significant sale for the club during this transfer window. Foot Mercato also reports that Marseille secured a percentage on any future resale of Mason Greenwood. Unless there is a last-minute twist, the striker should leave OM for Fenerbahçe just one year after arriving in Marseille.
