Victor Font, a candidate for the presidency of FC Barcelona, has revealed that he wants to negotiate with Manchester City for a priority option on Erling Haaland should the Norwegian striker leave in the future.
Haaland at Barcelona is an idea promoted by Font himself. According to him, even though the striker is under contract until 2034, extremely long deals like this are rarely fully honored, meaning Barcelona must be ready if an opportunity eventually arises.

Font claims he is already in discussions with Manchester City in an attempt to secure this privileged position, while acknowledging that neither the club’s financial situation nor its current sporting project allows for such a transfer in the short term.
“Erling Haaland is undoubtedly one of the best center-forwards in the world. In the short term, it is not a viable option because he signed a very long contract last year (until 2034). But personally, I am convinced that ten-year contracts are rarely respected. Anything can happen, and we must be prepared for the possibility that a player as talented as him, who has said he likes Spain and mentioned last year that he likes Camp Nou, could consider changing clubs,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Haaland’s agent Rafaela Pimenta quickly cooled the rumors. She stated that there has been absolutely no contact with FC Barcelona and emphasized that the striker is very happy at Manchester City after recently extending his contract.
“We have great respect and admiration for FC Barcelona, but there has been absolutely no contact with Haaland or with his agent. Not with the club, nor with any potential destination clubs. The player extended his contract a few months ago, he is very happy at Manchester City, and we have nothing to discuss regarding a transfer as long as everything is going well.”
