Lucas Hernandez has spoken. The Paris Saint-Germain defender made it clear this week: he wants more playing time — but has no plans to leave the club.
After a season of frustration and reduced minutes, the 29-year-old was rumored to be considering a departure ahead of the 2026 World Cup. However, those whispers were silenced after Hernandez publicly reaffirmed his commitment to PSG.
A clear message to the staff
According to L’Équipe, Hernandez is eager to reclaim a starting role next season. Often benched behind Marquinhos and Willian Pacho, the French international wants more responsibility as he eyes a spot in Didier Deschamps’ squad for the next World Cup. The message is loud and clear — but not confrontational. He’s pushing to play, not to leave.

Instagram statement ends speculation
Hernandez took to Instagram to clarify: “Just a quick message in response to recent rumors and media reports claiming I asked to leave PSG if my role didn’t change. That is completely false. I never asked to leave. I will be at PSG next season, working hard every day to represent the club in the best way possible whenever the coach gives me the opportunity. Thanks for the support. Ici c’est Paris!”
His future may still hinge on Luis Enrique’s tactical plans and summer arrivals, but one thing is clear: Lucas Hernandez is staying — and he’s aiming for a bigger role.
