Real Madrid attempted a major move in the transfer market but ran into a brick wall. The Spanish giants officially confirmed that they submitted a €150 million offer to sign Julian Alvarez, only to be rejected by their city rivals.
Julian Alvarez will not be joining Real Madrid, at least for now. The offer was indeed worth €150 million, just as re-elected president Florentino Perez had been claiming for several days.
Atlético Slams the Door on Alvarez Deal
In a surprising statement, Real Madrid revealed that it had approached Atlético Madrid in an effort to secure the services of the Argentine striker. The massive bid was immediately rejected, with Atlético reminding their rivals of the player’s release clause.
And that clause is staggering: no less than €500 million. A completely prohibitive figure that highlights just how untouchable Atlético considers Alvarez to be. The Madrid-based club clearly has no intention of letting its star forward leave anytime soon.
As if rejecting the offer was not enough, Atlético also mocked Real Madrid publicly on social media. By reposting the Merengues’ statement alongside laughing emojis, the club turned the failed approach into a full-blown public embarrassment.

The big question now is whether the rejection is final or simply a tactic to drive the price even higher. One thing is certain: the Julian Alvarez saga is far from over.
