RC Lens have fully reignited the title race. After their 3–0 victory against FC Metz, the Sang et Or are now just one point behind Paris Saint-Germain, and Florian Thauvin insists his team intends to challenge the reigning champions until the very end.

Thanks to their win over FC Metz this Sunday in Ligue 1, RC Lens made a major statement in the battle for the title. Sitting second in the standings, the Lens side are now only a single point behind the league leaders, Paris Saint-Germain.

Lens determined to keep the pressure on PSG

This situation is fueling clear ambitions in northern France. Speaking after the match, Florian Thauvin did not dismiss the idea of a title fight, while still remaining cautious about his team’s objectives.

“Are we playing for the title? We’ll do our maximum, as we’ve said from the start. Last week we dropped points, this week we’re back to one point behind. We know it’s going to be a long road until the end of the season,” the French international told Ligue 1+.

The Lens winger, who has scored eight goals in 25 Ligue 1 appearances this season, also stressed that the team’s main goal is to keep putting pressure on PSG. “We’ll take it match by match and do everything we can to trouble them,” he concluded.
