Olympique de Marseille can breathe again. After several turbulent weeks, Marseille secured a 1–0 win on the pitch of Toulouse FC on Saturday in Ligue 1. A valuable victory that temporarily lifts the club to third place in the standings.

After the match, Marseille coach Habib Beye mainly emphasized the need to bring calm back around his team as the season enters its decisive final stretch.

Beye urges composure as Marseille chase their objective

“It’s a shared desire to stay calm. We still have nine Ligue 1 matches to manage in order to reach a very high objective. What’s important is that this sense of serenity is reflected within my squad and my players,” the Senegalese coach explained on Ligue 1+.

While he does not want to stop his team from celebrating an important victory, Beye prefers to keep a cool head. “The win was hard-earned. It was important to experience it a bit more calmly, but that’s just my opinion. Personally, I needed a little more calm,” he added with a smile.

Strongly criticized after the Coupe de France clash against Toulouse on Wednesday (2–2, 3–4 on penalties), especially after missing a spot kick, Leonardo Balerdi responded perfectly in this league match. The Argentine defender delivered a solid performance and helped Marseille keep a clean sheet for the first time in several games. “I’m very happy with Leo Balerdi’s performance tonight. He was the leader of this defense. He showed a lot of personality,” Beye said, also praising the collective defensive work and the performance of goalkeeper Gerónimo Rulli as Marseille look to approach the final stretch of the championship with greater composure.
