A decision that could spark controversy. According to RMC, the board of directors of the Ligue de Football Professionnel has approved Paris Saint-Germain’s request to postpone the match against Lens, originally scheduled for Saturday, April 11. As a result, a completely insane run of fixtures is now on the horizon.
Scandal or not? The Ligue 1 clash between RC Lens and PSG will be rescheduled! Despite opposition from Lens, who were in favor of keeping the match on its original date, the LFP ruled in favor of the Parisian club. PSG will therefore benefit from additional recovery time between their two Champions League quarter-final clashes against Liverpool (April 8 and 14).
A completely unbalanced schedule for Lens
The direct consequence for Lens is a totally uneven calendar. Between their 5-1 win over Angers on March 20 and the home game against Toulouse on April 17, spanning four weeks, the Sang et Or will play only one match: the derby against Lille on April 4.
In contrast, the following five weeks could turn into a marathon, with up to eight matches on the agenda: the final five Ligue 1 fixtures, the rescheduled game against PSG, the Coupe de France semi-final, and potentially the final.
