At 38 years old, Lionel Messi continues to break records… even off the pitch. According to figures published by the MLS Players Association, the Argentine superstar now earns a base salary of $25 million with Inter Miami CF.
A luxurious pre-retirement for Lionel Messi in Miami. Sunshine, a league that is not too demanding… and millions flowing into his bank account.
Messi Dominates MLS Salaries
With various bonuses included, his guaranteed annual compensation reportedly rises to more than $28.3 million. A staggering amount that makes the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner by far the highest-paid player in MLS.
Since arriving in Miami in 2023, Messi has more than doubled his salary. Back then, the former FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain player was earning around $12 million in fixed wages.
On the pitch, La Pulga continues to shine as well. With 29 goals and 19 assists in 2025, he helped Inter Miami win the first MLS title in the club’s history before extending his contract until 2028. Behind him, Son Heung-min, the new Los Angeles FC signing, earns more than $11 million per year, while Rodrigo De Paul and Thomas Müller also feature among the league’s highest-paid stars.
