Kylian Mbappé is going through a difficult spell at Real Madrid. Troubled for several months by pain in his left knee, the French forward is now reportedly dealing with a more serious injury that could sideline him for several weeks. A major setback for the club, currently battling for the La Liga title and fully engaged in its Champions League campaign.
The Mbappé situation is creating growing tensions within Real Madrid. A return is hoped for in around three weeks, with the second leg against Manchester City on March 17 in sight, but the club insists that no risks will be taken with his recovery.
Medical Concerns and Growing Tensions at Real Madrid
Internally, the medical management of the case is raising serious questions. The change of head physician in January has fueled doubts, with some believing the injury may have been misdiagnosed or insufficiently treated as early as December. The player’s entourage suggests he was not clearly encouraged to stop playing sooner. According to the Spanish press, Mbappé has decided to take control of his own recovery schedule.
According to Marca, the forward even chose last week to travel to France to consult several specialists regarding the left knee sprain he has been carrying since December. Dissatisfied with Real Madrid’s medical services and facing a lack of improvement, he reportedly sought additional opinions in his home country. Mbappé did not feature in the Champions League match against Benfica and was absent from the Santiago Bernabéu during the encounter, using that time to attend his medical consultations.
