It is a huge blow for AS Monaco. The worst fears have been confirmed for Takumi Minamino, who was seriously injured on Sunday against AJ Auxerre in the Coupe de France.

AS Monaco has clearly been plagued by injuries. While Paul Pogba is still struggling to return to his best level, it is now Takumi Minamino who has been severely affected.

Suffering a knee injury and carried off on a stretcher after a worrying collision, the Japanese attacking midfielder has torn his anterior cruciate ligament, the club from the Principality confirmed in an official statement on Monday.

Although Monaco has not yet announced the length of his absence, such an injury usually means several months out.
