As the match against FC Metz approaches, Olympique de Marseille can no longer afford any mistakes. After back-to-back defeats against Lille and Monaco, Marseille must urgently get back on track this Friday in Ligue 1. Speaking at a press conference, Habib Beye stressed the importance of this crucial fixture.
The coach remains optimistic, however: playing again quickly is, in his view, an opportunity to move past the frustration of the last match. The objective is clear—regain momentum and approach the final six games with ambition. A win on Friday would also increase pressure on direct rivals, as OM currently sits 4th, just one point behind Lille.
A Must-Win Game to Relaunch Marseille’s Season
“It’s a good thing to play again very quickly. It’s a match that makes you want to get back out there. There was frustration after Monaco, that’s true, but we quickly shifted focus to work and be the best possible team on Friday,” said Beye.
“We know it’s a crucial match, clearly one we must win after two consecutive defeats. We want to win to approach these last six games with a conquering mindset and put pressure on others. Playing on Friday, with a good result, can also put pressure on competitors. It’s very important and decisive,” the Senegalese coach added.
Another topic discussed was the impact of Mason Greenwood, who was absent against Monaco. Some believe the team is more balanced without the English forward, an analysis Beye rejects. While acknowledging that his player is not flawless defensively, he highlighted his major offensive contribution and importance to the team.
