Huge scare for Benjamin Pavard! The French defender was the victim of an attempted burglary on Wednesday evening, according to information reported by Le Parisien.
It has been a disastrous end to the season for Benjamin Pavard. He is leaving Olympique de Marseille and, as a brutal farewell twist, his home was targeted by burglars. According to the newspaper, the 2018 World Cup winner’s wife reportedly surprised several intruders after they entered the garden of their property. She quickly alerted emergency services while the suspects attempted to flee.
Pavard’s Nightmare End at Marseille
According to the first reports, five individuals were allegedly involved in the incident. The suspects reportedly left the scene in a Mercedes before eventually being located by police officers. They were later arrested and placed in custody. For now, no further details have emerged regarding possible damages or the exact circumstances of the intrusion.
Just hours earlier, the French defender had officially confirmed his departure from OM through a lengthy Instagram message. Pavard’s story with Marseille is already over after just one difficult season. Signed during the summer 2025 transfer window from Inter Milan as a marquee recruit, the former Bayern Munich player was expected to become the new leader of Marseille’s defense. Instead, inconsistent performances, defensive mistakes and heavy criticism gradually weakened his status at the Vélodrome.
“A chapter closes today with OM. Wearing this shirt will remain a powerful experience in my career and in my life,” Pavard wrote while thanking the club, staff and supporters. Marseille’s management reportedly decided not to activate the €15 million purchase option. After 37 appearances in the OM jersey, the 30-year-old defender now returns to Inter Milan with many Marseille fans viewing the transfer as a major disappointment.
