Humiliated by Nantes on Saturday during the 32nd round of Ligue 1 (3-0), Olympique de Marseille is going through another turbulent period. According to RMC Sport, the Marseille players have been ordered to remain at the Robert Louis-Dreyfus training center for an extended training camp “until further notice,” with only two matches remaining in the league season.
The atmosphere at La Commanderie has become increasingly explosive, and the situation does not appear likely to calm down anytime soon. One of the main questions surrounding the club now concerns the nights spent at the training center.
Were the players still required to sleep on-site between Thursday and Friday? The uncertainty was finally resolved on Thursday morning, as RMC Sport reported that, barring a last-minute change, the training camp extension has officially been confirmed.
Growing Tensions Inside the Marseille Squad
If the club had considered easing the restrictions, the attitude displayed by the players in recent days apparently failed to convince the coaching staff. According to RMC Sport, Wednesday morning’s training session particularly frustrated the club’s sporting management.
The behavior of several players, judged to be too casual, reportedly pushed Habib Beye to cut the session short due to the lack of commitment shown on the pitch. The discomfort within the Marseille squad now appears deep-rooted. While Mason Greenwood is regularly mentioned among the players criticized internally, the lack of motivation is said to affect a significant portion of the dressing room.
According to a source close to the team quoted by RMC Sport, some players have already “given up,” focusing instead on their future, a potential transfer, or even the upcoming World Cup.
Others are reportedly struggling more and more with the lengthy training camp confinements imposed by the club. “Players who have given up, some tensions, but above all a lifeless group,” the source explained, also mentioning internal conflicts and visible signs of frustration as Marseille faces a highly tense end to the season.
