OM is working behind the scenes to find a successor to Medhi Benatia. After exploring several options and facing a series of rejections, one candidate is now starting to stand out significantly.
According to FootMercato, former Nice sporting director Julien Fournier recently met with Marseille’s executives. The discussion was considered very positive and could completely revive this priority case for the club.
A strong candidate emerges for Marseille
Julien Fournier is no stranger to OM. He served as the club’s general secretary between 2004 and 2009 and has a deep understanding of the Marseille environment. This is a valuable asset in such a tense context, where every decision matters.
Very interested in the project, he is reportedly willing to return to Marseille despite existing uncertainties. His experience in Ligue 1 and his solid reputation, particularly built at Nice, clearly work in his favor.
Nothing is official yet, but the trend is clear: Fournier is gaining momentum. And in Marseille, the time for a decision has never been more pressing.
