Liverpool are turning up the heat in this transfer window. After already splashing over €200 million (£169m), the Reds are now eyeing a blockbuster move for Alexander Isak, Newcastle’s star striker.
According to The Athletic, Liverpool are prepared to offer €138 million (£116m) for the 25-year-old Swedish international. That would make it the most expensive transfer in Premier League history.
Newcastle, however, are standing firm. Isak is under contract until 2028 and considered untouchable. Backed by Saudi wealth, the Magpies don’t need to sell — but with such a staggering offer, anything is possible.
Ekitike as a backup option
Should the Isak deal fall through, Hugo Ekitike (Frankfurt) is Liverpool’s plan B. Ironically, Ekitike is also on Newcastle’s radar — proof the two clubs are now shopping in the same aisle.
Liverpool are on the hunt for a new No. 9. And clearly, they’re willing to break records to get him.
