Ruben Amorim has been fired by Manchester United, and once again it has cost the club a fortune. For several years now, dismissing a manager has represented a staggering expense for the Red Devils.
Amorim hits the jackpot… by getting sacked. According to the Daily Mail, the Portuguese coach will pocket around €11M for his dismissal. Yes, €11 million just to pack his bags. The total bill for his brief spell at Manchester United rises to nearly €30M when you add the €10.6M paid to Sporting in 2024 and the €8.6M in wages he collected. Enough to explain the big smile recently caught on camera as he strolled through the streets of Manchester, looking like a man whose mission was perfectly accomplished.
A Costly Carousel of Managers
And the best part? Amorim is far from an isolated case. At Manchester United, managers leave, but the checks keep coming. Before him, the club had already paid out €17.5M to Erik ten Hag and his staff. José Mourinho walked away with €22M. Louis van Gaal received €10M, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer €11M, and Ralf Rangnick €15M.
The result: more than €80M gone up in smoke just to say goodbye to coaches. A true graveyard of millions, the perfect symbol of the constant chaos on the Red Devils’ bench. At Old Trafford, they don’t build, they compensate… and Ruben Amorim has just secured himself a prime spot in this very lucrative pantheon.
