Lionel Messi does not see himself sitting on the touchline after his playing career. The Argentine legend has made up his mind: he does not want to become a coach.
Under contract with Inter Miami until mid-2028, the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner is already thinking about life after football. And his future is being written far away from tactics boards and locker rooms.
Building a Club Instead of Coaching
Invited on Luzu TV, Messi was very clear. He does not imagine himself as a coach, not because he completely rejects the profession, but because another role appeals to him much more: that of a club owner. His ambition is to build a project from scratch, develop a structure, and give young players a real chance to grow and succeed.
He explained that he would rather create a club from the ground up and contribute to its development, offering children and teenagers a genuine opportunity to progress and achieve great things, a role that motivates him even more.
This dream has already begun to take shape. Alongside his friend and Inter Miami teammate Luis Suárez, Messi has launched Deportivo LSM in Uruguay, a club currently playing in the fourth division, confirming that his future lies not on the bench, but in the owner’s chair.
