Officially cleared in the betting investigation, Lucas Paqueta is finally ready to move on – and Manchester City could offer him the perfect fresh start.
According to Globo Esporte and The Telegraph, the Skyblues, who pulled out of a deal in 2023 due to the investigation, have never completely dropped the Paqueta file.
Now fully cleared, the 27-year-old Brazilian could make his long-awaited jump. With Kevin De Bruyne sidelined this summer and the arrival of Rayan Cherki, City are rebuilding their midfield and still rate Paqueta’s technical profile and Premier League experience very highly.
A £60M deal on the table?
West Ham won’t stand in his way if a suitable offer arrives. The Hammers are said to be asking between £51M and £60M (€60M to €70M) for the playmaker. Saudi side Al-Nassr are also circling, but Paqueta is aiming for elite European football. A return to Flamengo is reportedly not an option.
No official bid from City yet, but talks could accelerate quickly. With one month left in the transfer window, the Paqueta saga is heating up again.
