Although Bruno Genesio has been widely tipped to become Marseille’s next head coach, nothing has been made official yet. At the same time, Habib Beye continues to oversee the team’s preparations for the new season, creating unexpected uncertainty over his future.
Beye is still in place. While major changes have taken place around him, with Mehdi Benatia and Pablo Longoria both leaving the club, the former defender was also expected to depart. For now, however, Bruno Genesio is still far from taking over the position.
Marseille’s Financial Situation Could Delay the Coaching Change
According to La Provence, Marseille’s financial difficulties, combined with the threat of DNCG sanctions following a hefty UEFA fine, could complicate the club’s plans. If the wage bill is placed under strict control, OM may not be able to afford terminating Beye’s contract before appointing Genesio.
What once seemed highly unlikely is now becoming a more realistic possibility. The players have yet to receive any official confirmation of a managerial change, while Habib Beye is reportedly ready to embrace a second opportunity on the bench of the club he has always supported.
